Chris Baker is a full professor and chair in the department of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, focusing on technologies for data integration in the life sciences. Over the last decade he has successfully pioneered the design, development and adoption of advanced knowledge management technologies supporting the needs of researchers in subject areas such as; environmental toxicology, genomics, lipidomics, and epidemiology. A long-time innovator in data and text mining, semantic interoperability, and semantic web services for distributed and open access to data, Chris was recognized as a 2016 finalist for the Canadian Open Data Leader of the Year. Chris is also co-founder and CEO of IPSNP Computing Inc. established in 2011 to commercialize a self-service data federation engine providing fully integrated access to analytical software and online databases. IPSNP has products in healthcare and agriculture.
